100 Days Healthier Me – Day Fourteen

It’s funny looking back at the last week how much I’ve both lost and accomplished. I’ve set up a budget. I finished another draft of my novella. I’ve finished almost two books. I’ve got a dentist bill that’s probably going to be super expensive. I’m breaking out all over my face. I shaved my beard. All these things happened just in the last week!

I started this week off on a very bad note. (I also promised that I wouldn’t mention it again, but can’t seem to shut up about it). It put me in a negative place, and I’ve continually worked all week to not let it encapsulate my life and bring me down into a depression. It hasn’t. Instead, I’ve kept up with the things that I’ve needed to keep up with and continued forward stronger than before.

What worked this week?

The biggest thing that I know worked was keeping up with my blog. Don’t, Can’t, or Won’t weren’t even words in my vocabulary working towards it. I just got up every morning and it was one of the first things I did. I wrote up the quick blog posts and then went back to resting. I wrote the blog posts and then went to work. The reading was easy enough mostly because I could lay in bed and didn’t need to work at it. Both those things still worked very well, even though I was laid up. I also got my budget situated moving forward to utilize the approximate amounts I’ll be making weekly at the bar.

What did not work this week?

My novella was supposed to be finished by Friday. It is now Tuesday that I’ve finished it. Nonetheless, I know that I have until next week to write 5,000 words to turn in to my editor. I also did not go to the gym. My knee has not been feeling well. It hurts when I walk from time to time, so I didn’t want to stress it out for the last week. My food choices have also not been on point. (I am on a soft diet, which means soft breads, pastas, and mashed potatoes. Starches! Starches! Starches!). Finally, I had to rebuy a lot of stuff because I lost my backpack. That put me back a bit financially.

What are my goals for next week?

My goal is to double that in the seven days it takes me to write it. If I could, I’d like to do 2,000 words a day making my next novella halfway completed by the time I send it out to here. That would be awesome. I have to do 5,000, but my goal is 14,000. I want to finish another book by next week. I also want to start/finish Watchmen which will take some time. The final two things is keeping with my budget as listed as well as going to the gym three times to do light cardio. I have to (re)start somewhere.

It’s a lot for next week, but coming into the holidays I want to make sure I’ve set myself up for excellence. It’s a depressing time for me since I spend most of it alone and my family is hanging out so far away. This will promote a healthier lifestyle in the New Year by starting my goals now.
