100 Days Healthier Me – Day Twenty-Eight

I can almost guarantee this was not what Charmaine Houck, the Advocate of Adventure, wanted me to do with today. It doesn’t necessarily help my goals in a financial sense, it helps me in a mental/physical health sort of way. Today, I took a day off work.

Okay, truth be told, a large part of this happens to be because of a stomach ache. I did not feel well last night after I ate. I ate too much. My stomach felt three times bigger than normal. It was hard like stone and all I wanted to do was sleep or throw up. This morning it still hurt and I made several rushed trips to the bathroom before it finally settled down enough for me to go back to sleep. I found someone to cover me. Several hours later, my stomach feels quite a bit better.

The only trip I made outside my apartment was for my therapy session. I think therapy is something awesome. I am also a talker, so just getting some thoughts out in the open with a stranger is helpful. It was a good thing for me to come in and orient myself a little bit closer in the right direction. I, as you readers can see, have been doing a lot of ranting, wobbling, and re-ordering. It’s that time of year when we want to have all our ducks in a row. (It’s probably our parents fault for telling us Santa wouldn’t be good to the naughty kids, and we all assumed Santa only really watched around Christmas time).

We talked a lot about roadblocks. My biggest one is impulse control. I gotta work on that for a variety of reasons, and doing that will actually help considerably. Impulse control will help me spend less money on things I don’t utilize immediately. Impulse control will help me when drinking. Impulse control will help me spend less money eating out. These things are all good things for my lie right now. So, impulse control….control is a priority.

That’s my biggest thing I want to change in 2018. If I can wrangle that in for most of the year, I believe I could in fact accomplish all the other resolutions. It’s all about making the future happen in the way I wan it to, and working towards that future immediately. I know I can do this. It’ll just take time and effort. I have both those things and I’m ready.
