Let me just start by saying that it is freezing outside. The sun is out, but each time that wind sends a gust, I feel my entire body shiver. I am okay with the cold, but not enough to actually do something out in it when it’s under 30 degrees.
I did make it to the gym today. It was a bit rough even with my winter coat, gloves, and my Departed Stoles stocking cap. The wind had a way of cutting through it or sliding around the face o the hood and chillin me. It lead to me being outside for about a half hour, plus my usual walking time to the light rail. That is all the outside I want to do.
Now, my friends will tell you I should stop being silly. Last Monday, I wore shorts. For most of the day, I was fine. It was like forty degrees. My friend made fun of me as the white person getting excited for warm weather. I shrugged it off. It was fine. I had a sweat shirt and shorts. The weather wasn’t horrible.
Then it got horrible.
When I was walking home that night, it started snowing. It was not actually cold, but the snow on my bare legs was something that I was not expecting. It was kind of like having some cold tingles rising up your leg as you walk. It was not heavy, so it was just an awkward cold. There was no wind which worked in my favor since my body heat kept me pretty warm. I caved and let them all know they were right.
Besides being outside, I did make it to the gym for the third time this week. My goal of four times a week is very much working to my favor. I did cardio today and seriously felt good when I left. I drank quite a bit yesterday so it felt good to just burn off the calories. It was a good time on the elliptical. Tomorrow, I will go back and do another body-weight workout to end the week.
Tomorrow will be a bit harder to actually get to the gym since it’s supposed to be raining. It’ll also kill business at the bar which isn’t great when it comes to wanting to get up and go to work. The rain with the cold weather tends to make me want to just sit inside under my blanket and just not deal with anything outside of my room. I can’t. I will be there. I am just going to complain about it.
If you’re in warmer climate, or perhaps you just like the cold, I recommend going out. I’ll definitely be outside everyday that I’m in New Orleans, and the thought of that warm weather is keeping me going. It’s a few weeks out, but I can’t wait. I’ll definitely bask in the sun that day. Until then, well, I’m just going to have a dream of summer and hope for the best.
