Asking for criticism as a writer is easy. Someone can always tear you apart or call you out on everything that is wrong with your words. My roommate calls me out all the time, but he’s coming from a very different place. He points out logistical problems or making sure things within whatever story I am telling are consistent throughout the story. Even though it grates on me, his constructive criticism makes me a better writer. When asking for criticism, make sure you’re getting that, constructive criticism and not just someone being hyper critical.
In terms of the type of criticism that I want to ask for today, I think I want criticism about my blog. I have been writing this for almost four months and besides being optimist and as a semi-journal, I have no idea what people think about it.
For me, I started this blog because I always wanted to have one. Living the Superhero Life felt like a good theme to follow blending my love of the Bronze Age optimistic heroes and writing. I have some things on here that are clearly nerdy, and I am currently doing a lot of blog posts on just living as healthy as can be. I have no idea what people respond to outside of people liking my post daily or a couple friends liking my post on Twitter. The upside is all these likes make me realize someone is looking at my posts even if they aren’t commenting on them directly.
I may look and doing some soul searching about this blog when I return home from my trip to New Orleans. I may be looking at being more of a consistent flow between nerdy and living, while continuing the superhero aspect on a weekly basis to keep it interesting. I do know for certain things will slow down which means the posts I do post need to be a little deeper and slightly meatier, but that will happen in dear time I think:
I really do have all these questions about how to make this work well. I want to document this awesome journey called life that I am on as excitedly and well-written as possible. It’s such a fantastic journey filled with amazing friends, beautiful places, and inspired created books, television, and movies that I have always felt a desperate need to share. In the end, I am doing it regardless one post at a time, and I can’t wait to see where it ends up.
I really do want your criticism (read constructive) about my blog. Put it in the comments, write something on Twitter, or if you’re one of the few, send me a text. You can’t get better without knowing your weaknesses, just be nice about it. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without those likes. And i won’t get any further without eventually upping my game to the next level. Help a guy out. Have a great day guys, gals, and non-binaries. Oh, and you look brilliant today.
